In the summer of 2025, my son and I were walking along the beach in Martha’s Vineyard, talking about how much we love animals and how badly we wanted to give back. We didn’t know how yet—we just knew animals were the answer.
Each day, we walked the beach collecting beautiful seashells, dreaming out loud about what “Happy Pet Box Co.” could become. Those beach walks became our planning meetings. Our hope was simple: create something that helps animals, helps people, and spreads kindness.
We decided to start small by selling our seashells online. Our very first sale was to a woman named Jane, who believed in our mission and wanted to help us give back. We’re still friends to this day. That first sale felt like a sign—a little push from something bigger than us—telling us to keep going.
We used that money to register our domain name and officially begin Happy Pet Box Co.
From the start, our goal was never just profit. We wanted something that gave back to everyone:
• pets who deserve joy
• people who struggle to afford food or care for their animals
• rescues and shelters
• small businesses whose products deserve to be seen
• and customers who want meaningful, high-quality items for their pets.
Giving back has always mattered more to me than money. It’s what I’ve always felt I was put on this earth to do.
Then came a moment I’ll never forget.
On a really hard day—one where I felt defeated and ended up in the emergency room—we sold our very first Happy Pet Box on Etsy. I was so sick, but so excited. I couldn’t wait to get home and tell my son.
That box went to Kodak the bunny.
We still talk to Kodak’s mom to this day. She loved the Binky Box and the handwritten note my son included. Kodak will always hold a special place in our hearts—he reminded us that we were on the right path.
Then Christmas came… and everything changed.
We sold so many boxes. It felt like pure confirmation that what we were doing mattered. With those profits, we were able to help our friend Hugh stay together with his best friend’s pets after their owner passed away. He couldn’t afford dog food or vet care, so we stepped in—covering food, vet visits, shots, and nail trims for the dogs and cats.
We also helped Ann, who was unable to afford hay and a litter box for her bunnies. We’re still friends today, chatting regularly about animals and life.
2025 also became a year of rescues.
My daughter found a cat abandoned on the street—something heartbreakingly common around here. We brought her home, named her Nova, used our funds to get her spayed, and fell completely in love. She’s family now.
Then came Willow — a bunny abandoned on the streets of Stamford, left in the shelter for over a month. She had no hidey house and was kept next to barking pit bulls 24/7. As a prey animal, she was terrified. We adopted her for $5… and quickly realized she belonged with us forever.
And of course, Bailey.
My bunny. My favorite bunny. Rescued from a hoarding situation, now traveling with me to Vermont, my constant companion and best friend. Bailey is a reminder of why we do this.
2025 showed us that Happy Pet Box Co. isn’t just a business — it’s a mission that works.
Every box we create is handmade with love. No two boxes are the same. We carefully choose each item, support small businesses, and always tell you where the products come from so you can continue supporting those makers if your pet falls in love.
Every box makes a difference.
Every box helps an animal.
Every box spreads kindness.
We hope you keep choosing Happy Pet Box Co., because when we all work together to make the world better for animals and people alike, everyone wins.
With love,
Happy Pet Box Co. 🐾💕
